LMRFC News Nov 2019

Fresh from their pre-season friendlys the serious business of league rugby started for all age groups in the club. The senior team are still looking for their first win of the season but have been close on a few occasions before running out of steam in the closing minutes of the games. Having been promoted last season to Dorset & Wilts One South they are managing to hold their own having already played some of the stronger sides in the league.

In the youth section the colts are having a mixed season so far with a 50% success rate in their league.  The team have played some excellent rugby to date and are really bonding together well as team.  The boys are improving with every game and are enjoying their rugby.

The U15s have had a good start to their season with only one defeat to date and that was after lending the opposition some of their better players to balance the team numbers so the game could go ahead.

After their appearance at the memorial game in September the U13s have got their league campaign off to a great start and are unbeaten to date. Before their recent game they were presented with Rob Kearney’s international shirt, signed by complete Ireland team that played that day against Scotland in the 6 Nations match. This shirt will now hang in the clubhouse alongside the signed British & Irish Lions shirts and those of Australia and South Africa.

The mini section has also had a good start to the season and they have had both training and match days during September and October.  Following their training sessions on the Sundays they are also gathering in the the club house to cheer on England in the bid to regain the World Cup in Japan.

If anyone is looking to get involved in rugby Lytchett is a family friendly club, offering rugby for all age groups from U6 through to seniors and we are always looking forward to meeting new players of any age and ability to join the family.
