LMRFC News Jan 2019
This has been a good month for Lytchett Minster RFC with the senior narrowly losing in the semi final of the Dorset and Wilts senior vase to Minety, their old nemesis who had beaten them a couple of years ago in the final. They have had better results in the league with two hard fought wins over Salisbury and Sherborne to improve their position in the league. At time of going to press they have one more league game before the deserved Christmas break away to Puddletown which will be another close contest with two evenly match teams.
The colts continue to have a good season with a very good win away against Fordingbridge, followed by a loss to Swanford. They have one more game before the break but starting on the 12th January they have full fixture calendar with all games at home at 1400 other than 19/01/19.
The other sides in the youth and mini sections have been continuing playing matches and training improving their skills and enjoying the team camaraderie.
This month the club are pleased to report that one of their current coaches and a previous senior head coach took part in a challenge of their own when they helped rebuild a community school in Nuwakot, Nepal which was affected by the devastating earthquake in 2015. They were part of a ten of 10 all with varying trades and skills, giving up their time and over a 12 day period helped making the scholl a much better learning environment for these children.
The club also donated rugby kit to the group to bring with them so the children have new sports kit and you can see it being modelled in the picture above. It anyone would like to add to the teams fund raising please visit https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/mcplanandsiteservicesnepal/updates/: they would be extremely appreciative and help in the further renovation of the school.
If anyone is looking to get involved in rugby Lytchett is a family friendly club, offering rugby for all age groups from U6 through to seniors and we are always looking forward to meeting new players of any age and ability to join the family.
