Match Report for Lytchett Minster 1 Vs Verwood 1 on 14 Apr 2007
We Are The Champions
Lytchett Minster travelled to Verwood at the weekend knowing that they had been crowned champions of Hampshire Division Three 2 weeks previously. However, the manor men wanted to go out on a high with a final league win for the season and they were not disappointed, scoring 10 tries, running out 64 – 12 winners.
Lytchett Minster were slow out of the blocks allowing Verwood to gain control for the first twenty minutes. This turned out to be a mistake on Lytchett’s behalf, as Verwood scored the first try. However, Lytchett soon regained control and scored a try of their own through Lewis centre Harvey. Stand-off Harry Boulter converted. Centre James English continued with his scoring run when he touched down for the first of his 3 tries, close to half time. The half time score being 12 – 7.
Lytchett Minster simply clicked in the second half and ran in a further 8 tries, 2 more to James English, 2 for Harry Boulter, 2 for full back Scott Ricketts and 2 for lock Daryl Cormack. The pick of the bunch being Cormacks second try when he caught the ball from the kick-off and ploughed his way through the Verwood defence to score under the posts.
The final score was 64 – 12 and Lytchett had completed their league campaign in style, only having suffered defeat once in the league season.
